Get Rid Of Lice by Eliminating Its Source
Head lice are powerful parasites. You might think they are
small
but they can do great harm to you. These parasites can suck blood on the
head and can cause extreme itchiness and scalp irritation. The most
vulnerable victims of head lice are longhaired children especially
little girls. If your child has head lice, the primary thing that you
should do to get rid of them is by figuring out its source. How do you
do this? Ask your child where he/she has been hanging around or if any
of his/he friends has them. If your child identifies a classmate to be
the cause, then informing the school as soon as possible is necessary.
One of the best ways to eliminate resident head lice is by investigating
its source. However, whether you know the source or not you still have
to get rid of it one way or another. You can start the elimination
process is by gathering some tools. These include lice comb, shampoo,
towels, tissue, and a bowl of warm and soapy water. You can use any of
these materials according to the method you prefer for getting rid of
lice.
One option that you can take for ridding off lice is by shampooing the
infected person using hot water. You can begin with using warm water.
Make sure that the water is not hot enough to burn your child’s scalp or
head. Vigorously lather his/her head with preferred shampoo and then
rinse again with warm water. Immediately after rinsing wrap it up with a
towel and leave it as it is for fifteen minutes. This allows the hair to
soften for combing.

A second option is the use of a nit comb. This tool is used to comb out
the eggs on the hair strands. This can be done right after bathing and
wrapping hair with towel. However, it is ideal to comb initially the
hair with any regular comb. If your child becomes restless during this
process, it is better to let him sit in front of the television and
watch his/her favorite cartoon. You can start combing your child’s hair
on the side and then work your way towards you ensuring that the comb is
dragged closer to the scalp. Do this repeatedly over the entire head. If
the comb starts to clog, wipe it with a tissue paper and place it on
bowl of warm and soapy water. After combing the entire head, rinse
his/her hair again with warm water.
The last and most useful method in killing head lice is by washing your
child’s entire belongings including beddings, clothing, and headgear.
You should wash them using hot water and detergent in order to kill any
lice eggs that may have tucked on to them. When using the dryer make
sure to put it in the driest setting possible for exactly thirty
minutes. This helps kill all the stages of lice. Additionally, always
make sure to keep your child tidy because lice love dirty areas.
